Grubstakes Parade – May 26th

The Club again has a float in Yucca Valley’s Grubstake Days parade on Saturday,  May 26,  from 10am-noon. This year the festival’s theme is “Life in the Desert” in honor of the area’s many non-profits.  Our float celebrates “Public Service” and the float will carry some of the club’s elected officials and the three endorsed candidates for regional office – Marge Doyle, Deni-Antoinette Mazingo and Ruth Musser-Lopez.

The parade route starts at Inca Trail and Hwy 62 and ends at Sage Avenue.  Float-riders can disembark and walk at regular intervals along the two-mile route, but “verbal proselytizing,” “harassment of or physical contact with spectators” is prohibited. Also, “anything given…must be handed out and not thrown.”

Float participants must be at our line-up site no later than 9am. The site will be assigned this week.  Rebecca Unger, the club’s organizer for this event, tells “float-ers” to wear heavy sunscreen and a shady hat since weather is predicted to be sunny, no clouds and temps in the high 80s.

This year, float participants will be treated to a post-parade pizza lunch at Two Guys Pies located at the end of the parade at Sage.  For more information call or email Rebecca at 760/974-9042 or unger9969@roadrunner.com.
