“EARTHDAY.ORG, the global organizer of Earth Day, announced that the theme for Earth Day 2022 will be “Invest in Our Planet.” Earth Day 2022 is focused on accelerating solutions to combat our greatest threat, climate change, and to activate everyone – governments, citizens, and businesses – to do their part. Everyone accounted for, and everyone accountable.”

Be part of the network of over a billion global citizens participating in Earth Day 2022 and come join us! Our Earth Day Celebration will focus on how to be better stewards of our environment, ways of increasing our carbon handprint at home, and strengthening our community connections.

Earth Day Celebration activities include:

• Seed Exchange – Bring some seeds, take some seeds. Cuttings and rooted plants are also welcomed
• Kombucha Class – Learn to make your very own Elixir of Life. Limited supplies of SCOBYs (kombucha Mother) and grolsh bottles
• Plant Parenthood will be selling Velvet Mesquite Trees for $10-25, depending on size
• Joshua Basin Water District will present on “Living like a Desert Native”
• Joshua Tree Cultural Preservation Center will lead a group meditation
• Every Leaf Botanicals will guide us on how to utilize prickly pear cactus (nopales and tunas) as a food source
• Voices of Stewards for Joshua Trees will provide updates on the protection of the Western Joshua Tree and work with the Cima Dome Restoration
• Screening of the trailer, “I Thought They Were Protected,” a soon-to-be-released documentary by Joshua Tree On Film
